2010 Coaches Opportunities

 

Bruce Weber shares his experience on an Athletes in Action Coaches tour.  Listed below are the opportunites that you can use your gifts in coaching to help build spiritual movements everywhere through basketball this summer.

 

West Africa- Francophone

Dates: May
 

 

 This tour will be a combination of coaching clinics to college and professional coaches in this region, basketball camps, establishing rapport with the basketball federations for further relationship, school  and humanitarian aid initiatives.

East Africa 

Dates:  August

 


This tour will be a combination of coaching clinics to college and professional coaches in this region, basketball camps, establishing rapport with the basketball federations for further relationship, school  and humanitarian aid initiatives.  Additionally, we will continue our well-established partnership with a school in a Nairobi slum, working with students, building basketball hoops, and distributing humanitarian aid.
 

European Basketball Camps

Lithuania, Poland and Germany

Dates:  One week camps throughout June and July

Poland

Dates: last week of May

 Level: DI

 

This is a Division I level competive tour comined with a coaching clinic. We will play against the Polish junior national team and also have a NCAA Divison I coach conduct a coaching clinic of 300 - 400 Polish coaches.  It will be in cooperation with the Sport University in Katowice, Poland in Southern Poland. 

 

East Asia

Dates: 2 week camps in February, July and August

Level: Experienced coaches who have a heart for teaching basketball to youth players

Do you have a heart for teaching basketball skills to junior and senior high students in a camp setting?  Would you love the chance to impact lives for eternity as you very naturally become friends with kids and coaches from East Asia?  You will also have the chance to do some fantastic sight-seeing.  Each camp project runs about 2 weeks.  Expect to work hard and have the time of your life.  Courts and camps might be indoor or outdoor.  Please contact  Curt Weerheim for further details.  Up to 10 coaches are needed in 2010.

 

South Asia Project

Dates: May 15th - June 15th

 

 

The South Asia Project takes place in one of the most beautiful, diverse and influential countries in Asia.  We will be visiting three cities in South Asia and spending time with between 600 and 1000 college and university students over a 3 week span. Our main focus will be using 3 one-week sport camps (basketball, volleyball, soccer and track & field) to reach students with the Gospel.  We are looking for coaches as well as athletes that are interested in using their experience to train these South Asian athletes.

Competing Teams Coaches

Dates: 1-3 week tours from May through August

Level: Men's and Women's Division I, II, III and NAIA

 

Each summer Athletes in Action is sending out Men's and Women's basketball teams internationally that have Head Coach and Assistant Coach opportunites.  Please contact Adam Kjorvestand or Shannon Kaney if you would be interested in coaching a team.
